LES MORGEOTS, CHARTRON ET TRÉBUCHT
92 ★★★★★☆
Today, we savor Les Morgeots from Chartron et Trébuchet, a Premier Cru Bourgogne originating from Chassagne-Montrachet.
Founded in 1984 by the Trébuchet family, Chartron et Trébuchet traces its wine production roots back to the 1800s. However, it was in 1984 that the Trébuchet family acquired the winery, marking a new chapter in its history.
Color
Copper, chestnut, autumn leaves, the essence of fall, the North Sea, fishermen in their yellow overalls, and various shades of amber, both polished and raw. These hues possess a mesmerizing, profound wisdom.
As I gaze at this captivating color, my imagination takes flight. I envision myself at the harbor of a quaint Danish town, watching the fishermen sail in. I picture myself on the beach, feeling the fierce North Sea wind, searching for ambers in every imaginable shade.
This color stands out as extraordinary, setting a high bar for the entire palette.
The Nose
Experience a fruit-forward aroma featuring apricot, figs, preserved lemon, mandarin, and white Haribo gummy bears with hints of pineapple.
The bouquet is intricate, offering tertiary notes of salt, slate, clay, and mascarpone.
The Palette
This wine offers a delightful blend of salty caramel, apricot, quince, butter, and a hint of toastiness, all accentuated by a touch of white pepper. It’s surprisingly spicy, not in a chili-hot way, but the white pepper certainly adds a pleasant kick.
On the palate, it’s evident that this wine has some age. You’ll notice the rich notes of salty caramel and buttery toastiness, combined with dried apricot and quince. However, it’s the spicy undertones of salt and white pepper that truly elevate this wine, keeping it vibrant and relevant. Without these, it might feel past its prime.
This wine is definitely worth experiencing, offering a truly memorable tasting experience!
